Patanjali Yoga Sutra - 20

Intensity yields results

Tivra Samveganam Asannaha
With intense practise, the goal of Yoga, merging of the individual consciousness with the cosmic consciousness is achieved. This merging, or a state of Samadhi happens when the mind is functioning in tune with the cosmic consciousness and not broken into vrittis or individual thought waves. The means of practise to reach the state of Samadhi has been outlined in the many sutras in the next part of the Patanjali Yoga Sutra, called the Sadhana Padaha. - Swahilya Shambhavi

The key word is "tivram", intensity. Initially it is not easy, but with practice, the intensity, and the experience will occur. Well explained, Swahilya.

If I understand your teaching today, this is "the flow" correct?

Swahilya Shambhavi said...

Yes Mark, "the flow" is correct. But often, "the flow," is understood as a will-less being. But just as a river which is always moving with "the flow" goes through many phases such as gushing forth, crashing down as a waterfall, meandering along the course and finally lazily merging with the ocean - Yoga is going along with the flow of the river of the mind in many phases, finally merging with the ocean of consciousness.
