....Meditations
In half sleep
I was contemplating
That in sleep,
The waking consciousness
Is covered by the darkness of matter
And every cell of the body overpowers the collective thoughts
As they go to their individual memories
The 'I' looks through the Windows of the Eyes & other senses
And the windows have colourful screens
That hide the vision
But screens are required for a home.
They can nevertheless be drawn open
When fresh air and sunlight are needed
The rest of the time
The mind screen is an essential piece of clothing
For this body called home.
(It is 1.45 a.m. when I finish writing this. Not because I am waking so late and posting on my blog. But it was rather a sudden wake up call while sleeping and these thoughts came when I got up to have a sip of water. It's probably because I fell asleep reading Gary Zukav's 'The Seat of The Soul,' which speaks of human evolution in terms of development of the five senses and evolution of multi-sensory perception. Now I feel ever so fresh as I type this, the groggy eyes have gone!)

Krishna asked Arjuna if he wanted his mind screen removed and Arjuna answered yes. He rejoiced in exultation but his heart trembled with fear. He asked for his mind screen back.

Love to you, dear Swa!
Thank You George. Love. Swaha.
nice one swahilya.
Thank You Ganesh. How U Doing? Love. Swaha.
Thanks George for helping to understand the "mind screen".
Swaha,
Do you think that the physical world is our mind screen?
Sometimes I think that other things are much more real. For example, how I feel about the world is more important than what is "objectively" going on, but I act as if my reaction is unimportant.
Hi Swahilya,
Seems something like dynamic sleep therapy. A nice soothing post. When are you returning to India.
@ be now:
Do you think that the physical world is our mind screen? : Yes indeed. Just try this experiment. Look at a tree near you. Just keep looking at it deeply. You will see that the trees are made of tightly packed particles which in turn contain nothing but protons, neutrons and electrons spinning in empty space. The same is the composition of the eyes through which you are watching the tree. You think there is a tree because of the eyes through which you see them and the tree are composed of particles vibrating at different wavelenths of grossness. The reality is there is no tree, there are no eyes and there is no You. All just empty space.
This mind itself is a subtle make-believe screen.
In Tirumoolar's Tirumandiram (A Tamil saint), there is a beautiful verse:
The wooden toy elephant hides the wood
The wood is hiding the toy elephant
(For the child seeing the toy, it knows no wood and for the carpenter seeing the wood, the toy is hidden within)
Similarly: The manifestations of matter hides the spirit
And in the spirit is hidden the combinations of the five elements, including this world.
Love. Swaha.
